Magiplasm
Medium Ooze, UnalignedMagical Minions Protecting Spell Slingers
One of the most bizarre and powerful magical bodyguards is an unusual ooze called a magiplasm. Though these translucent creatures appear similar to simple, mindless oozes, they are much more intelligent and obedient.
The formula for creating and bonding to a magiplasm is a well-guarded secret. Most spellcasters are hesitant to create and bond with a magiplasm, for it is rumored that the process replaces some of the spellcaster's personality with an eerie, heartless outlook.
Some spellcasters bonded to a magiplasm wear the creature like overlarge clothing. The strange and intimidating sight can often be enough to dissuade potential enemies.
Wizards have a long history of using other creatures, including magical constructs, for protection and assistance. Familiars are the most common magical assistants, and shield guardians are among the most common magical bodyguards. However, rarer creatures exist as magical protectors or companions.
The means of creating, controlling, or bonding with more unusual creatures are often heavily guarded secrets only passed along to trusted allies. Magic-users might learn such secrets as members of a magical organization or faction, but usually only the most powerful, influential, or wealthy members are entrusted with this knowledge.
Bonding with these unique magical bodyguards is not as simple as attuning to a magic item or summoning a familiar. It can take months to create and days to forge a bond with these magical bodyguards. This bonding process requires an expenditure of magical and physical energy that can weaken the creator for many days.

Traits
Amorphous. The magiplasm can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch without expending extra movement to do so.
Spider Climb. The magiplasm can climb difficult surfaces, including along ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.
Actions
Multiattack. The magiplasm makes two Slam attacks and uses Smother.
Slam. Melee Attack Roll: +9, reach 5 ft. Hit: 14 (2d8 + 5) Bludgeoning damage plus 4 (1d8) Acid damage.
Smother. Strength Saving Throw: DC 17, one Medium or smaller creature within 5 feet. Failure: The target takes 22 (5d8) Acid damage and has the Grappled condition (escape DC 17). Until the grapple ends, the target has the Blinded and Restrained conditions, is suffocating, and takes 9 (1d8 + 5) Acid damage at the start of each of its turns. The magiplasm can only smother one creature at a time.
Reactions
Transfer Magic. Trigger: The magiplasm is smothering a creature and takes damage from a spell of level 5 or lower or a magical effect. Response: The engulfed target takes the same amount of damage and the magiplasm reduces the damage it takes from the triggering spell or magical effect to 0.
